K Mart 20% Off Anything Coupon

If you’ve been waiting for a Playstation 3 you may want to check out Kmart this week. Kmart has a new coupon that gets you 20% off any 1 (one) item in their store. Like I said, the coupon can be used for anything Kmart sells, not just a PS3. However, if you want to use the coupon for a PS3, it’ll knock down the price of the 40gb model from $399 to $319 (without tax), which actually comes in a bit lower than the comparable Xbox 360 Premium model at $349. Although I guess you could use this on an Xbox 360 or a Wii (if you can find one) also.

You can download a PDF of the coupon here for a larger look and printing goodness.

There’s quite a few reports of this coupon working just fine for a PS3.

Dell PS3 Bundle with Ratchet and Clank and Spiderman 3

All for the “low” price of $399 you’ll get the newest incarnation of the Playstation 3, an HDMI cable, the brand new game Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and the worst comic book movie of the year (but hey, it is on Blu-Ray. No, sorry, not even HD can make it a better film). This is the package Sony should be selling as the basic starter bundle. Yeah, but Sony’s already “losing” so much money on every PS3 right? Whatever. Anyway, it looks like it takes a company like Dell to show them what needs to be done. And thus you have this bundle for the same price as the console alone is going for everywhere else.

Arrested

Wow I’ve been a little miffed at my parents before, and yes a couple of times it was video game related, but this is crazy. It seems young Cory Ryder, a 16 year old moron, was not doing very well at school. His parents must have thought it was due to his playing to much Playstation and TV, so naturally they took them away from him. This didn’t go over well with young Cory so he started making threats. His mom decided to teach him a lesson and got a police officer to pose as a hitman. No word on if he shaved his head and put a bar code on the back of his head. Cory somehow came in contact with the “hitman” and offered to give him his dads truck as payment. The officer negotiated with him a couple of times and then arrested Cory for attempted murder and he is awaiting trial.

I guess he was failing more then just school but also in common sense he had a F. Come on bro think, I’ve been making threats about killing my parents and a hitman just happens to show up. I might have to agree with the parents he did need to get away from his Playstation.

I can only think of a classic Arrested Development episode in which George Bluth always uses a one armed man to teach his kids lessons. Like not leaving a note that they need milk. What a great show that was.

PS3

Sony is down on its knees begging. No they aren’t begging us to buy more PS3’s. Instead they are begging developers to hang around and still make games for the PS3. Dean Takahashi of the Mercury News in a report of the NPD breakdown alleges they are begging

“One piece of news that came out this week was that Sony pleaded with third-party developers not to abandon its struggling platform. That change in attitude is a marked difference compared to the arrogance of past years.” Said Dean on his blog.

“The argument is that the PS3 will show its strength as developers learn how to make games for it. But developers know they can staff four or five Wii teams with the same number of people it takes to make one PS3 game.”

There hasn’t been much of a presence by PS3 games in the monthly sales reports and it seems that Sony will beg to keep developers.

But what about the gamers? The guys at Sony also seem to have addressed the lack of backwards compatibility. Sony admitted to the lack of BC because they wanted to sell more PS3’s. Wow a bit of honesty from Sony, can you believe it? Basically they want people to buy the lower priced PS3 and not the PS2. We would still like to see more backwards compatibility but we also like being told the truth. Check out Adam Sesslers rant on this subject at G4tv  Sessler’s Soapbox   .

Sony Playstation 3

Today Sony finally made the PS3 $399 price official in the United States. However, all is not well in Playstation land. The price cut comes at, well, a price. Not only have they slashed the price, but they’ve also slashed the features. The new $399 PS3 will have two less USB ports (leaving you with only two), no mutli-card reader (i.e. memory sticks, sd cards, etc.), a 40gb hard drive, and one of the biggest blows to the console, NO Backward Compatibility. That’s right, no more PS2 games on your PS3. Oh, and the “cheaper” PS3 won’t be on store shelves until November 2nd this year.

In addition to the 40gb PS3 at $399, Sony will be offering it’s 80gb PS3 at a reduced $499, and this model still offers backward compatibility (through software). This price cut should be effective immediately, although your mileage may vary.

These price drops finally bring the PS3 into the realm of the Xbox 360. I have to admit, while I’m not the biggest PS3 fan (where’s the games Sony?), this price drop is finally, maybe getting me interested in buying a PS3, even if it is just an over hyped Blue-Ray player. At least the online network is free.

Street Fighter 4 - Capcom

Capcom’s big announcement is finally here. It’s a new Street Fighter game. Street Fighter IV (4) isn’t coming until late next year but that can’t stop fanboys from drooling now. Capcom has a trailer of the game here.In addition to the new Street Fighter, Capcom has also said they’ll be bringing Lost Planet to the PS3 (including all the downloadable content and extras the PC and Xbox 360 version have). Also, a new game franchise called Dark Void, a sci-fi action/adventure game. And the old Nintendo game Bionic Commando is getting a next-gen remake.

Haze PS3 Upcoming FPS

The next big sci-fi shooter isn’t coming out on Xbox 360, and maybe that’s a good thing. I don’t know how much more the console can sustain. Haze is a very promising first person shooter set in a sci-fi universe. It’s “gimmick”, what sets it apart, is what the developer has termed “Nectar” which gives your player temporary special abilities, similar to some of the force powers seen in many Star Wars games.

Hopefully, at least for Sony’s sake, provides something different in the genre, or if nothing else gives players a reason to finally own a Playstation 3. The biggest problem is the same one with most titles on the PS3, it doesn’t come out until next year.
