Bungie and Microsoft have announced that as of 2 a.m. this Tuesday, March 25th 2008, the previously released 800 M$ point Heroic Map Pack will now be free to download on Xbox Live Marketplace. If you own Halo 3 and haven’t already paid for these maps then you should definitely grab them. They’re free, ’nuff said. Bungie will also be releasing their new Legendary Map Pack soon for the same initial 800 M$ points. Look for that to be free sometime this fall.

The upcoming Halo 3 “Legendary Map Pack”, coming out April 15th (tax day) includes a new/old map. It’s everyones favorite snow covered level, Sidewinder! The new map has quite a few differences, first of which is the name, now called Avalanche (much more hardcore than Sidewinder). Some other notable changes are the trade of ladders (one of the few levels that had ladders) for the now infamous “Man Cannons”. For more details, you can read all about it at Bungie’s official post here. One of the first sentences on their post reminds gamers of the 800 M$ point price and that Bungie itself can’t make it cheaper. :( At least they feel our pain.
Boom!
According to Xbox360Fanboy and Bungie’s own official site more maps are on the way. Duh. Of course there’s going to be new maps. However, the best part of this is that the current Heroic Map Pack will probably be free soon or at least around the time of this new Legendary Map Pack release. So far they’re only showing one map, Ghost Town, from the pack, and sorry, no release date yet.
Boom!

Well 2007 is gone and 2008 is here with a vengeance. To be honest I’m a bit bummed that 07 is gone. It might have been the best video game year ever. I’m saying that it was. I’ll admit that most of the year was somewhat weak and it didn’t pick up until later in the year. But it was so good in November that I can over look the slow summer. With that said here’s what I loved and didn’t love about 07.
Halo 3 Professional Gamer Skyllus vBi has been the victim of Xbox Live Identity Theft. He’s a member of the professional gaming group Team vBi. After posting this crazy suicide video from Halo 3, he was given a rare Halo 3 Recon Armor, which only Bungie employees and some elite Halo community members have. Not long after getting the special armor Skyllus has reportedly had his Xbox Live account hacked, and or stolen, three times since late October.
Whoever stole the account has got to be brain dead. Not only is it a real “go-to-jail” offense, but it has to be pretty easy to spot someone running around in a match with a flaming head. If you or anyone you know has seen this man, please report it to your local authorities, or Microsoft.
P.S. I wonder if the carpet matches the drapes, eh? Am I right? Nevermind.

First off we here at Counter Agent don’t condone suicide. Unless of course its in Halo 3. This video is pretty cool. It takes a lot of time and imagination to come up with this way of offing yourself.
I would like to take the time to thank Bungie for adding The Forge because without it we wouldn’t have great videos like this.

Halo 3 Legendary Edition Xbox 360 only $60 at Walmart.com, online only. This is a limited time offer, so if you just gotta have that cat helmet, hurry.
Boom!
I’m not gonna lie. I have in the past picked up an issue of Maxim. I’ve been walking through an airport news stand and decided to pick it up. As hard as it may be for some to believe, I didn’t just buy it for the purdy girls. Some of the articles are interesting.
With that said, I have never thought of Maxim as a solid place to find video game knowledge. Maxim released their list of the top 10 games of 2007. I think that the list kinda speaks for itself. It goes as follows:
1) Call of Duty 4
2) Guitar Hero 3
3) The Orange Box
4) BioShock
5) God of War 2
6) Super Mario Galaxy
7) The Darkness
8) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
9) Stranglehold
10) Lost Planet : Extreme Condition
User’s Pick : Halo 3
Nice list huh?
While I can’t disagree with COD4 being number 1 (it’s my choice for GOTY also), how can Halo 3 not be on the list? I know I’ve ripped on the single player but good lord the multi-player alone makes it a choice. Granted I never bothered to play The Darkness, but I can’t imagine it being worthy of top 10 status. Also Stranglehold while it was a solid game doesnt deserve top 10 either.
I will give them credit for having Lost Planet on the list that was a great game and deserves a little love. Well their video game lists might not be great but hey THEY STILL GOT PRETTY LADIES!!!
First off, both of the videos above are from the RoosterTeeth series Red Vs. Blue. You may be familiar with them. They’re based on the new Halo 3 Heroic map pack. The first video ran during the Spike TV Video Game Awards. The second video shows off some of the new levels, like the empty ‘Foundry’ map built for the ‘Forge’ map editor.
That’s right, the first batch of maps are here for Halo 3. It’s the Heroic map pack, it contains 3 maps, and it’ll set you back $10 (USD) or 800 Microsoft Points. However, if you want to save a little cash, there are rumors that the pack will be available for FREE sometime early in 2008. I don’t exactly play Halo 3 everyday, so I’m just gonna wait until their free. But, if you’re getting tired of the current maps and just can’t get enough H3, then you may want to drop the money sooner rather than later.
Boom!
