We just recently posted about the Battlefield 2 beta that will be opening. After watching this video I definitely want to get in on it. Pretty good looking stuff going on in the trailer here’s hoping the gameplay is as good as the video.

The part where he uses his grenade launcher to open the side of the building and get a kill was sweet.

The next installment in the popular Battlefield series, Bad Company, is coming out this June for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. However, some lucky gamer’s will have the opportunity to play it early. PC gamer’s that happen to be members of either IGN Founders’ Club or IGN Insider will be offered a beta key, while supplies last. Beta keys will also be given out from a number of IGN site’s like, IGN.com, FilePlanet, GameSpy, TeamXbox, Planet Battlefield and Voodoo Extreme.

For console gamer’s only the Xbox 360 will be included in the beta, sorry PS3. To get in to the 360 beta you’ve got to pre-order the game form GameStop.

In North America, GameStop will also offer keys on a first come, first serve basis for this Exclusive Beta Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network event. With only 5,000 beta keys available at GameStop, gamers should pre-order their copy now at GameStopicon.

This is a Multiplayer Only beta, similar to the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta last year. The beta will only include 2 maps to play on. It will, however, have a number of play modes and weapon upgrades to explore.

Boom!

I can’t remember if they did this last year or not but this is cool. You can download the entire 65 team tournament bracket for you Xbox 360. Go check out Xbox Live and get your bracket and play your own NCAA bracket. Of course this gonna cost you a few Microsoft points, 400 points actually.

I really think this is cool but I would only do this if I had 400 extra points just sitting around.

The Battlefield franchise has been around for a while and has a pretty big, loyal following. The games have continued to move forward with each release (I’m talking specifically about the PC games, not the console versions), although some may disagree that the last release, Battlefield: 2142. Well, whether or not you’re a fan of the previous Battlefield PC games, they are continuing the trend of change with their latest entry in the franchise.

Battlefield Heroes not only changes everything by introducing a completely new take, labeled “cartoon shooter”, but they’ve also changed the entire payment structure, offering a completely free-to-play model. If you prefer not to, you’ll never have to drop even a single penny to play this game. The game will instead make it’s money through advertisement. Not even in-game advertisement like you may think. They will be showing ads on the games loading screens, and while you download the game and run it off of your personal computer, you will be required to launch the actual game from their official website at battlefield-heroes.com. That way they ensure not only the loading screen ads, but also any ads on their site as well.

All in all the game has tremendous potential. The look, while many may compare it to the recent hit shooter, Team Fortress 2, is done for maximum accessibility and, according to the developers, just plain fun. The system requirements are also pretty minimal, especially considering most of the latest system hogs like Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3. Look for the game to go live sometime this summer.

There ya go one of the most anticipated games in a long time will be with us in the fall so get ready to control your own universe. Hopefully this date will actually be the date and we won’t have to deal with more delays and pushback.

“The wait is almost over,” said Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright. “We’re in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can’t wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year.”

All PC keyboard and mouse gamers rejoice! It’s official, Mass Effect is no longer an Xbox 360 exclusive. In May this year the critically acclaimed and freakin amazing, epic game will premiere on the PC. While it may seem like a good ways off still, this should give PC gamers some time to earn a little extra upgrade cash for beefing up their PC for the likely intensive requirements the game will demand when it releases. Now there’s two games to upgrade for, Crysis and Mass Effect. Maybe even Starcraft 2 later this year.

Here’s an excerpt from the official press release of some of the new features exclusive to PC:

Optimized for the PC, Mass Effect for the PC incorporates the following features:
• Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
• High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
• Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
• Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keys’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
• New decryption mini-game.
• New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.

Boom!

mass_effect_sells_1_million.jpg

Thanks to G4TV’s Feed and GameDaily.com. After a reportedly slow first week, it seems Mass Effect has hit a high point with 1 million sales in 3 weeks.

This is good news for fans of the game, meaning with this kind of success, they’ll most likely be able to make all those sequels they’re planning on. GameDaily also had a quote from Xbox VP for Marketing Jeff Bell saying, “We’ve… seen a strong response to both Halo 3 sales with more than 5 million, and Mass Effect which has sold more than a million copies in less than three weeks”.

Wow, that was a poorly written story by me. Oh well, what’re you gonna do?

I just bought Sims 2 Deluxe and Sims 2 Bon Voyage (the expansion pack). Sims is one of my all time favorite games. I had most of the expansion packs for the original Sims. And ALL the cheat codes I could find. My two favorites for the original Sims was: Rosebud;!;!;! This gave you money. Tons of money! The other was: move_objects. This lets you delete Sims and refresh them or delete trash, visitors, animals…whatever. I’m still getting the hang of Sims 2. The only cheat I’ve used so far is: motherlode. The money cheat of course. I gotta have the mula! I’m liking the Sims 2. Reason 1, you can have more than one story in your house. I have one house that goes up 4 stories but there’s barely enough room on each story for a bed. Reason 2, the Sims don’t have as much trouble walking around. The AI is better. They can figure out how to get around objects. Reason 3, you can buy a really cool car and drive it around. In the original Sims I use to have to use my move_objects cheat to steal the company car. If you have any cool screen shots you would like to share please contact me or send me a link. I would love to hear from my personal fans since we all know I’m the best CounterAgent ALIVE! Boom!

The 2 giants of gaming, Activision and Blizzard have announced a merger. 18 billion is the number floating around that this thing is worth. Activision are the guys who give us Call of Duty, the Tony Hawk series, and Guitar Hero. While Blizzard is behind World of Warcraft. The merger should help Activision compete with EA. This morning they had a conference call with their stockholders. The highlights were that Blizzard would be acting as its own entity and that WOW would not be coming to consoles.

Blizzard and Activision have both had huge years revenue wise. The announcement boosted both their stock prices with Vivendi the owners of Blizzard reporting a 3% increase. Activision reports a 16% bump in their stock price.
