The gaming world is abuzz with the recent firing of Jeff Gerstmann, who was Gamespot’s editorial director. He posted a bad review of the game Kane & Lynch and was fired when he refused to change the review. Evidently they didn’t like his “tone” in the review. His fellow game reviewers from many different sites have declared their support of him, check out this from 1up. Also there has been a boycott of all things CNET, they own Gamespot, on Dec. 3rd. Funny thing about this one is that most of the places telling you to boycott send you to a post on Gamespot’s forums!??!?! That kinda doesnt make sense does it? Anyway support this boycott.

Other sites have gone even farther, Destructoid has changed the look of their site. Just about everyone is weighing in on this one so I guess I will to.

This is ridiculous. In a world where the most jaded, cynical, and opinionated people are really the most interesting, Jeff Gerstmann is no different from most reviewers. He just happened to work for a corporation that didn’t like what he had to say and thus lost his job. This is another example of “THE MAN” imposing his will on the little guy. Let’s be honest, the game sucked pretty bad and Jeff was just telling the truth, but as usual the truth doesnt help things sell.

We here at Counter Agent support any reviewers ideas, even if we don’t agree with them. We hate Gamespot, not just for this little incident but also because they put a permanent ban on my fellow Counter Agent writer’s account. In closing we hate CNET and Gamepot!
