The UK just got a PS3 price cut, the same one we’re so very likely to see next week, October 12th, here in the states. The price goes from 399 GBP to 299 GBP in the UK. This price cut dosn’t come without some strings attatched. The biggest of these is the total lack of backward compatibility with they’re Playstation 2 console and the hard drive capacity is now only 40 GB. Some of the other compromises are reducing the USB slots from 4 to 2. Finally, the multi-memory card port has been competely removed.
In addition to the price cut, they’re also adding a model identical to the one described above that will have a 60 GB hard drive and value pack including a six axis controller and two Sony published games.
Boom!
